Polyphon 28 cm Disc Music Box

Bearing the embossed Polyphon name, this disc music box turns melody into mechanical movement through interchangeable 28-centimetre metal discs. Its wooden case, illustrated lid, winding handle, disc bed and comb mechanism evoke the physical, ritual character of domestic music at the turn of the twentieth century. The Hannover-associated O. C. F. Miether badge is a visible link to the period’s international trade in mechanical music.
